I have been teaching voice and performance for the past 15 years. I believe that we all have something distinctive that we can express with our singing voices and I work to help the student to discover their individual and unique sound With all my years of singing professionally in so many different areas of the discipline, I feel I can empathize deeply with the challenges that a singer faces both in studying and in performing and therefore can guide them on their road to achieving their goals.

My students have gone on to perform on Broadway and National tours; They have also become recording, cabaret, rock and blues artists. I teach both group and private lessons.

"Amy Coleman has a unique way of working with each student, by encouraging and nurturing the individual spirit and giving them permission to stretch their own limits. It is obvious that she finds great joy in seeing her students release their fears and open their hearts to their own song." Valerie Smaldone- (Radio Personality)

"Amy has that rare, and necessary, gift of teaching to the individual. In a world of carbon-copy vocal sound, she is a breath of fresh air, encouraging her students to go within and connect to their own, unique voices. She creates a safe space to explore; her encouraging, esteem-building approach is what sets her apart from the rest. She teaches to the heart, not just the note, and in doing so remarkable sounds begin to organically emerge. Without Amy, I never would have discovered I could sing! " Bobbi Kravis- (Singer, Actress , was in the Broadway national tour of Foot Loose.)

“I wouldn’t be Tommy without you.” Steve Isaacs ( Played Tommy in the first national tour of the Broadway musical Tommy and former MTV Host.)

“Through working with Amy I have gradually become a professional singer. My range has increased, my stage presence has improved, I am more confident. Most important for me, her class is a safe place to take the risks that are necessary for growth. After trying several teachers, I found Amy and have been with her for almost 10 years.” Claire Veniot (member of the Band 46 bliss, their music has been used on the TV shows; CSI and Veronica Mars.)

“I studied voice with Amy for a few years, but still feel as if I'm a student of the Flamin' Goddess de la Coleman. Maybe it's because she teaches you technique through your own experience and incorporates things like yogic breathing and TMJ exercises into the lesson. Or maybe it's because Amy has the uncanny ability to gently prod you into accessing places within yourself and your psyche that you dared not visit before... I'll tell you this much - I accomplished more through my work with Amy in a few short years than what had taken nearly nine years in costly (albeit effective) therapy visits. Only in New York kids, only in New York... “ Carl Chesna, (singer, songwriter)
